1st Step to Letting Go

A Mother's 1st Day of School Prayer

I wonder what you're doing now,

And if everyone is treating you kind.

I hope there is a special person,

A nice friend you can find.

I wonder if the teacher knows

Just how special you are to me.

And if the brightness of your heart

Is something she can see.

I wonder if you are thinking about me,

And if you need a hug.

I already miss the sound of your voice

And how you give my leg a tug.

I wonder if you could possibly understand

How hard it is for me to let you grow.

On this day know that my heart breaks

For this is the first step to letting you go.

  1. hey there friend...Letting go, and another year older...Your children are very lucky to have someone like you in hteir lives!!! There is no doubt that tomorrow will be filled with emotions...both happy and sad...but remember one thing if you can~

letting go doesn't mean to lose hold of what or who you love...it makes what or who you love become stronger and more appreciative of everything you have given of yourself along the way...

    Happy Birthday...You've done good girl!

  3. Oddly, I find this equally appropriate as my daughter started her Freshman year at college...in the dorms

  5. as a fellow classroom teacher AND the father of a 4th grader, this strikes close to home.....it not just the prayer of a mother, but for fathers, too! I always keep in mind that all of my students are as precious to someone as my son is to my wife and myself......
